Just a few months ago, I found myself doing something I never thought I’d have to do. I had to start over with all of my social media accounts.

After years of building my online community, sharing my business, and connecting with my friends and people, I suddenly found myself back at square one. It was maddening, frustrating, discouraging, and if I’m being completely honest, very overwhelming.

Honestly, there were moments and yes tears (both of frustration and devastation) I even questioned whether it was even worth rebuilding.

But as the weeks have gone by, something interesting has started happening. I’ve stopped focusing on what I lost and I’m beginning to appreciate what I’m getting to build.

Starting over has forced me to be much more intentional. In my friend requests, my follows and instead of just posting just to fill a calendar, I’m thinking more about whether my content.

Would I love to have thousands of people following my page again? Of course. I’d be lying if I said I never looked at my follower count and wished it were higher.

But then I remind myself of something important.

Every single person who chooses to follow me is a real person. Someone I have the opportunity to encourage, inspire, or simply brighten their day. When I look at it that way, the numbers don’t seem quite as important.

Starting over doesn’t erase everything you’ve learned. In fact I’ve learned a lot from this experience. It given me the opportunity to build something stronger, wiser, and more intentional than before.

And honestly?

I’m excited to see where this new beginning leads.
